Opening a business office to sell insurance was a new concept for Gimli as most insurance sales in the area were conducted from the salespersons home. By 1964, Interlake Insurance expanded with the acquisition of a competing agent’s business, which created the need to hire staff and a larger office at 45 Centre Street in Gimli. Over the next few years, the company purchased a number of smaller agent portfolios, which prompted the need for a larger space at the northeast corner of 4th Avenue and Centre Street.

The continued growth of the company created the need for more space and so, in 1977, the current location at 56 Centre Street was built and occupied. More staff was added as the company continued to grow, and now has 18 employees and 4 locations throughout the Interlake area providing insurance expertise to the public.
